Marketing Data Extraction with Adloop
Marketing Data Extraction: for what purpose?
What is Data Extraction?
Data extraction is the practice of exporting datasets in standard formats to external applications, such as Excel, Tableau, Google Data Studio or Datalakes.
In a world where applications increasingly need to be fed with data, it seems inconsistent to leave this data in one place. Data needs to be taken out to be manipulated, to be put into dashboards, or to be linked to other data, and to provide as much information as possible.
In short, data is exported into applications to make sense of it.
Why is Data Extraction important?
Data Extraction allows users to use the platform that best suits them to produce relevant analyses, reveal insights that are critical to the evolution of the company’s strategy, and be able to share content simply and efficiently with marketing teams.
Benefits of Data Extraction
Better strategic decisions
Exports to external applications allow companies of all sizes to rely increasingly on established and relevant external processing tools. These tools make it possible to analyze and interpret data, guiding the strategic decisions to be made. This approach, known as “Data-driven“, allows companies to better understand their consumers and customers.
Diversity in the choice of Data Management
The diversity of export destinations allows each user to process his data on the platform of his choice, thanks to the API connectors made available, Excel, Big Query and the data marts show it well.
Update and Time save
Through platforms such as Adloop, exported datasets can be automatically synchronized at the chosen frequency, several times a day for example, which offers significant time savings. Another benefit is of course the increase in productivity.
How to export marketing Data in Adloop?
Data export works by sending data to one of Adloop‘s external applications, the destination. A destination is an external service that can receive and store data, such as Dataviz, Analytics or Datamarts applications.
Feed fresh data effortlessly into the data ecosystem
No more copy and paste with Adloop, populating your dashboards, datamarts or excels should take no more than 5 minutes.
Just set up your exports and Adloop will send the updated data.
Everything in a dataset is exportable, including all dimensions and metrics. And these exports are triggered by themselves according to the periodicity that has been defined after the source data has been updated.
As far as destinations are concerned, Adloop exports can feed CSV or Excel files as well as databases. The most frequent use cases are to feed Dashboards built in Excel, Google Data Studio, Tableau… or Datamarts in AWS, Azure, Snowflake etc.
Components of an Export in Adloop
Finally, an export can only work if you have set up one or more data sources, a report that contains the data to be exported, and one or more export destinations.
To summarize, let’s look at the composition of Adloop Exports:
- Destination: the application to which the export is going to be sent, for this you need to have created an export destination;
- Report: what contains the data that will be exported;
- Segmentation: by default, the data in a report are aggregated over the selected period. You need to segment the data to have it by day or by week.
- Format: Adloop exports data in standard formats (Excel, CSV). Some applications require specific formats that are natively handled by Adloop.
- Frequency: How often you want Adloop to export your data.
- Name: this is the name of the export, it is completely free but we advise you to be very precise because if you have 15 active exports a day, you will be happy that they are well-named.
